Keto, short for ketogenic diet or ketosis, is a specific way of eating so that your body burns fat for energy instead of sugar. It’s a diet, yes, although many people who eat this way call it a way of eating (WOE), or even a way of life (WOL). That’s because the word “diet” often has a connotation of being a temporary state. It’s a very healthy way to eat and it’s how our ancestors ate. You’re essentially cutting out processed foods, bad fats, all grains, all sugars, most fruit and alcohol.
